Regular Season Round 13: Rytas - Lietkabelis 83-94

The game between Top Four teams took place in Vilnius. 4th placed host Rytas (9-4) lost to fourth ranked Lietkabelis (9-4) 94-83. The game was mostly controlled by Lietkabelis. Rytas managed to win third quarter 26-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Forward Donatas Tarolis (202-94, agency: Interperformances) stepped up and scored 17 points and 6 rebounds for the winners and the former international point guard Vaidas Kariniauskas (197-93) chipped in 14 points, 5 assists and 4 steals. At the losing side international guard Mindaugas Girdziunas (188-89) responded with 24 points and international Arnas Butkevicius (197-92) scored 18 points (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Lietkabelis moved-up to third place, which they share with defeated Rytas. Rytas lost third consecutive game. Lietkabelis is looking forward to face Juventus (#5) in Utena in the next round. Rytas will play at home against Dzukija and is hoping to win this game.
