Regular Season Round 6: Chaika - Kyiv Basket 101-81

Superleague round 6 caused change at the leadership position. Second defeat of league's leader Kyiv Basket (8-2) against third ranked Chaika (7-3) 101-81 was the most important game of the last round. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Kyiv Basket. The game was mostly controlled by Chaika. Kyiv Basket managed to win fourth quarter 24-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Chaika dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Kyiv Basket's 48 and made 24-of-26 free shots (92.3 percent) during the game. Chaika forced 19 Kyiv Basket turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was a good game for the former international forward Olexandra Radulovich-Kurasova (186-86) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 43 points (!!!) and 18 rebounds. The former international swingman Iryna Tsekova (178-78) contributed with 17 points, 9 rebounds, 7 assists and 6 steals for the winners. Chaika's coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. International swingman Viktoriya Kondus (176-97) replied with 22 points and 8 rebounds and the former international guard Ievgeniia Spitkovska (174-88) added 20 points and 4 assists in the effort for Kyiv Basket. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Chaika have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 7-3 record having 2 victories less than leader Dynamo-NPU. Defending champion Kyiv Basket dropped to the second place with two games lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by Dynamo-NPU. Kyiv Basket will play next round against Interkhim trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Chaika will try to continue on its current victory against ninth ranked Kozachka-KPU in Zaporozhye.
