No shocking result in a game when third ranked Maia Basket (6-3) crushed at home 5th ranked Beira Mar (3-6) 76-48 on Friday. They outrebounded Beira Mar 40-27 including 27 on the defensive glass. Maia Basket looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by Beira Mar's players. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Maia Basket made 10 blocks. It was a good game for Serbian forward Stefan Andelkovic (203-94, college: Harding) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 31 points and 12 rebounds. Joao Lucas (195-96) contributed with 17 points and 7 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) for the winners. American forward Frederick Moore (201, college: Shawnee St.) answered with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 13 rebounds and forward Guilherme Oliveira (193-97) added 4 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Beira Mar. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Maia Basket maintains third place with 6-3 record having just three points less than leader Sampaense, which they share with Sanjoanense and Academia. Beira Mar lost their third game in a row. They keep the fifth position with six games lost. Maia Basket will face league's second-placed Academica in Coimbra in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Beira Mar will play at home against the league's leader Sampaense and hope to win that game.
