Regular Season Round 10: Timberwolves - Furstenfeld 91-69

Bottom-ranked Furstenfeld Panthers (0-11) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 91-69 loss to sixth ranked Timberwolves (6-4) in Vienna on Saturday evening. The game was mostly controlled by Timberwolves. Furstenfeld Panthers managed to win fourth quarter 21-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Timberwolves forced 20 Furstenfeld Panthers turnovers and outrebounded them 42-29 including 27 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. Forward Peter Hofbauer (193-98) scored 14 points to lead the charge for the winners and Bosnian forward Nemanja Nikolic (202-89) chipped in 7 points and 10 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side Croatian Mario Spaleta (209-95) responded with 21 points and 5 assists and Croatian Marko Car (188-85) scored 12 points and 7 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Timberwolves have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Klosterneuburg and Kapfenberg. Loser Furstenfeld Panthers still closes the standings with 11 games lost. Timberwolves will meet Kapfenberg Bulls (#4) on the road in the next round. Furstenfeld Panthers will play against the league's second-placed Gmunden Swans (#2) and hope to get finally their first victory.
