Regular Season Round 11: Agronomia Buc. - Univ.Cluj 84-67

Everything went according to plan when eighth ranked Agronomia Buc. (4-7) defeated bottom-ranked Univ.Cluj (0-11) in Bucuresti 84-67 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 1 point after three quarters before their 27-9 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Agronomia Buc. made 18-of-21 free shots (85.7 percent) during the game. They also forced 20 Univ.Cluj turnovers. Point guard Gheorghe Balmus (180-92) orchestrated the victory by scoring 29 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!). Hara Visan contributed with 20 points for the winners. Four Agronomia Buc. players scored in double figures. Forward Tudor Bichis (190-99) answered with 28 points and 5 rebounds and Rares Mihasan (-99) added 20 points in the effort for Univ.Cluj. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Agronomia Buc. moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Miercurea Ciuc and Rapid. Univ.Cluj lost their eleventh game in a row. Univ.Cluj at the other side, also newcomer in the league, still closes the standings with 11 games lost. Agronomia Buc. will face higher ranked Targu Mures (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Univ.Cluj will play against Focsani (#4) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
