There was no surprise when 18th ranked Crailsheim Merlins (1-9) were defeated at home by third ranked Brose Baskets (7-2) 93-77 on Saturday. American-Georgian Ricky Hickman (189-85, college: NC-Greensboro) fired 12 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. American Augustine Rubit (200-89, college: S.Alabama) chipped in 14 points and 7 rebounds. Five Brose Baskets players scored in double figures. American point guard Frank Turner (178-88, college: Canisius, agency: Inception Sports) produced 16 points and 6 assists and naturalized Chilean Sebastian Herrera (193-97) added 18 points respectively for lost side. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Brose Baskets have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 7-2 record having four points less than leader B.Muenchen, which they share with EWE Baskets. Crailsheim Merlins lost seventh consecutive game. Newly promoted team stay at the bottom place with nine games lost. Brose Baskets will face Telekom Baskets (#8) in Bonn in the next round where they are favorite. Crailsheim Merlins will play on the road against EnBW Ludwigsburg (#9) and hope to win that game.
