Regular Season Round 13: Phoenix Hagen - Uni Baskets 83-82

A very interesting game took place in Hagen. It ended with only one-point defeat on the road of 12th ranked Uni Baskets (5-8) to eighth ranked Phoenix Hagen (6-6) 83-82 on Saturday evening. Phoenix Hagen outrebounded Uni Baskets 41-26 including 27 on the defensive glass. It was a great shooting night for Phoenix Hagen especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 57.9 percentage. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists. American center Alex Herrera (206-92, college: Fort Lewis, agency: Two Points) nailed a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds for the winning side and Dominik Spohr (198-89) accounted for 17 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. American guard Grant Benzinger (190-96, college: Wright St.) came up with 16 points and 8 rebounds and Canadian guard Connor Wood (193-93, college: Carleton) added 16 points respectively for Uni Baskets in the defeat. Five Uni Baskets players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for Phoenix Hagen. They maintain eighth place with 6-6 record. Uni Baskets lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the twelfth position with eight games lost. Phoenix Hagen's next round opponent will be higher ranked Ehingen/Urspringschule (#4) in Allmendingen and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Uni Baskets will play at home against Lions (#14) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
