Regular Season Round 13: Speyer - Langen 97-51
Date: December 8, 2018
There was no surprise when 9th ranked TV Langen (4-8) was outleveled on the road by second ranked Speyer (11-1) 97-51 on Saturday. Speyer dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to TV Langen's 34. Speyer forced 21 TV Langen turnovers and outrebounded them 47-31 including a 33-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists comparing to just 14 passes made by TV Langen's players. Quite impressive performance for naturalized Russian forward Albert Kuppe (200-88) who helped to win the game recording 26 points. Forward Tim Schwartz (197-87) contributed with 13 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Four Speyer players scored in double figures. American forward Christopher Edward (201, college: Concordia, OR) answered with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 13 rebounds and forward Ruben Spoden (202-89) added 11 points in the effort for TV Langen. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the ninth consecutive win for Speyer. They keep a position of South-West leader, which they share with Koblenz. Loser TV Langen keeps the ninth place with eight games lost. Speyer will face Saarlouis/Dillingen (#4) on the road in the next round. TV Langen will play against Giessen Pointers (#6) and hope to win that game.
