Regular Season Round 13: Karlsruhe SC - HAKRO Merlins II 86-69

Everything went according to plan when third ranked Karlsruhe SC (9-3) defeated at home 13th ranked HAKRO Merlins II (4-8) 86-69 on Saturday. Karlsruhe SC forced 20 HAKRO Merlins II turnovers. Quite impressive performance for American-Ghanian guard Bright Mensah (193-92, college: William Pater.) who helped to win the game recording 17 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals. Center Eyke Prahst (209-97) contributed with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Croatian point guard Vladan Lazic (190-1) answered with 12 points and 5 rebounds and American forward Arsenio Arrington (206-96, college: Aquinas Coll.) added 10 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for HAKRO Merlins II. Five Karlsruhe SC and four HAKRO Merlins II players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Karlsruhe SC. They maintain third place in South-West with 9-3 record having just three points less than leader Wolmirstedt. Loser HAKRO Merlins II dropped to the ninth position with eight games lost. Karlsruhe SC will face Mainz (#14) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. HAKRO Merlins II will play against Kronberg (#12) and hope to win that game.
