Regular Season Round 13: Herford - Ibbenbueren 94-80

Everything went according to plan when third ranked Herford (8-3) defeated at home 10th ranked Ibbenbueren (4-8) 94-80 on Saturday. Quite impressive performance for American guard Sam Cassell-Jr (193-92, college: Iona) who helped to win the game recording 30 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Lithuanian forward Vaidotas Volkus (203-85, college: Redlands CC) contributed with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. American point guard Jeremy Lewis (185-86, college: St.Thomas, TX) answered with 21 points and forward Benjamin Fumey (203-87, college: Valparaiso) added 17 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Ibbenbueren. Five Herford and four Ibbenbueren players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Herford maintains third place in West with 8-3 record having five points less than leader Wolmirstedt, which they share with Hertener Loewen. Ibbenbueren lost their fifth game in a row. They dropped to the ninth position with eight games lost. Herford will face Hertener Loewen (#4) on the road in the next round. Ibbenbueren will play against Leverkusen FB (#11) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
