Regular Season Round 10: Stevnsgade - Vaerlose 60-67

The game between Top Four teams took place in Stevnsgade. One of their biggest challengers host Stevnsgade (0-10) lost to third ranked Vaerlose (2-8) 67-60. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 21-16. But Stevnsgade won second period 16-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Stevnsgade 45-23 including a 32-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Richard Granberry (203-93, college: Virginia St.) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 18 points and 16 rebounds. The other American import guard Austin Pope (198, college: Chaminade) contributed with 8 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Stefan Jevric (202-98) replied with 15 points and 4 assists and FYR Macedonian guard Boris Vukicevic (190-98) added 10 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists in the effort for Stevnsgade. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Newly promoted Vaerlose maintains third position with 2-8 record having nine points less than leader EBAA. Stevnsgade at the other side still closes the standings with ten games lost. Vaerlose's next round opponent will be league's leader Bakken in Risskov and it will be for sure the game of the week. Stevnsgade will play on the road against Naestved and hopes to get finally their first victory.
