No shocking result in a game when eighth ranked Kaiserslautern (5-7) beat at home 14th ranked Mainz (3-9) 99-84 on Sunday. Kaiserslautern dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Mainz's 38. They outrebounded Mainz 39-24 including a 31-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Quite impressive performance for forward Waldemar Nap (202-93) who helped to win the game recording 23 points and 9 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). Hungarian guard Gergely Hosszu (190-86) contributed with 21 points and 5 assists for the winners. Five Kaiserslautern players scored in double figures. American point guard Kewan Beebe (183-93, college: Geneseo St.) answered with 21 points and 6 rebounds and Maximilian Befort (203-94) added 18 points in the effort for Mainz. Mainz's coach Christian Zander rotated eleven players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. The victory was the third consecutive win for Kaiserslautern. They moved-up to seventh place in South-West, which they share with Stuttgart. Mainz lost their seventh game in a row. They keep the fourteenth position with nine games lost. Kaiserslautern will face Fellbach (#10) on the road in the next round. Mainz will play against Karlsruhe SC (#3) and hope to win that game.
