Regular Season Round 11: Zaporizhye - Odessa 88-80

Rather expected game in Zaporozhye where 6th ranked Odessa (4-7) was defeated by third ranked Zaporizhye (9-5) 88-80 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 11 points after first quarter, but they rallied back and won the game by 8 points. Zaporizhye made 28-of-34 free shots (82.4 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was American guard Malique Trent (189-94, college: Hampton) who scored 26 points, 7 rebounds and 9 assists. His fellow American import guard Mike Holton-Jr (185-90, college: St.Michael's) chipped in 19 points and 6 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). International Maksym Pustozvonov (200-87) produced 20 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and swingman Olexandr Belikov (201-92) added 12 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Zaporizhye. They maintain third place with 9-5 record having just two point less than leader Dnipro. Odessa lost their seventh game in a row. They keep the sixth position with seven games lost. Zaporizhye will meet at home Mykolaiv (#4) in the next round. Odessa will play against the league's second-placed Khimik and hope to secure a win.
