Regular Season Round 9: Wuerzburg Ak. - NINERS Academy 84-61

No shocking result in a game when seventh ranked Akademie (3-5) crushed bottom-ranked NINERS (0-7) in Wuerzburg 84-61 on Sunday. Akademie dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to NINERS's 28. Akademie forced 26 NINERS turnovers and outrebounded them 40-24 including a 17-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a good game for point guard Nils Leonhardt (195-0) who led his team to a victory with 24 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. Michael Javernik (203-1) contributed with 21 points and 6 steals for the winners. Four Akademie players scored in double figures. Leon Hoppe (197-0) answered with 16 points and 5 rebounds and point guard Kevin Kollmar (187-2) added 12 points in the effort for NINERS. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Despite that victory Akademie went down to eighth position (Group 3) due to points difference. NINERS lost their seventh game in a row. They still close the standings with seven games lost. Akademie will face league's second-placed Junior Loewen in Breitenguessbach in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. NINERS will play at home against HAKRO Merlins (#7) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
