Regular Season Round 17: Kyiv Basket 2 - Politekhn.Lvov 109-108

A very interesting game took place in Kyiv. It ended with only one-point defeat on the road of higher ranked Politekhn.Lvov (6-10) to ninth ranked Kyiv Basket 2 (3-13) 109-108 on Sunday evening. Politekhn.Lvov was ahead by 4 points after three quarters before a 23-19 charge of Kyiv Basket 2, which allowed them to win the game. They made 26-of-31 charity shots (83.9 percent) during the game. Strangely Politekhn.Lvov outrebounded Kyiv Basket 2 47-34 including 16 on the offensive glass. Guard Andriy Poshablia (194-1) nailed 25 points and 5 rebounds for the winning side and forward Sergey Shevtchenko (202-95) accounted for 22 points and 8 rebounds (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!). Swingman Denys Tiutiunyk (195-92) came up with a double-double by scoring 22 points, 14 rebounds and 7 assists and Klym Liiv (196-96) added 21 points and 6 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) respectively for Politekhn.Lvov in the defeat. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Politekhn.Lvov's coach Yaroslav Zubrytskyy rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Kyiv Basket 2 moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Dnipro-2. Politekhn.Lvov at the other side dropped to the sixth position with ten games lost. Kyiv Basket 2's next round opponent will be higher ranked Ch.Mavpy 2 (#7) in Cherkasy and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
