The game between closely ranked teams ended with seventh ranked Loewen's (7-6) road victory over 8th ranked Wuerzburg (5-8) 85-79 on Saturday. Loewen forced 22 Wuerzburg turnovers and outrebounded them 54-40 including 19 on the offensive glass. Wuerzburg was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. Quite impressive performance for American forward Robert Franklin (195-81, college: N.Mexico Highlands) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 21 points, 21 rebounds, 8 assists and 5 steals. Guard David Taylor (190-95, college: Pacific) contributed with 20 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Four Loewen players scored in double figures. Badu Buck (196-99) answered with 25 points and 5 rebounds and American forward Dexter Sienko (198-96, college: Regis Univ.) added 12 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists in the effort for Wuerzburg. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. The victory was the seventh consecutive win for Loewen. They moved-up to fourth place in South, which they share with Elchingen and FC Bayern II. Wuerzburg lost their fourth game in a row. They dropped to the tenth position with eight games lost. Loewen will face FC Bayern II (#6) in Muenchen in the next round. Wuerzburg will play on the road against Coburg (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
