Regular Season Round 11: BBU S. - Flames 75-102

Rather expected game when 10th ranked BBU (4-7) was smashed by seventh ranked Flames (6-5) in Salzburg 102-75. The game was mostly controlled by Flames. BBU was better in fourth quarter 24-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to BBU's 42. They outrebounded BBU 45-32 including 16 on the offensive glass. The best player for the winners was naturalized Argentinian forward Fabricio Vay (207-86, agency: Interperformances) who had a double-double by scoring 23 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists. Bosnian-Slovenian center Fuad Memcic (209-82, agency: Promotex) chipped in 21 points. Flames' coach Franz Zderadicka felt very confident that he used 10 players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Spanish forward Guillermo Sanchez (200-91) produced 19 points and 8 rebounds and forward Christian Joch (196-96) added 14 points and 9 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Flames moved-up to sixth place. BBU lost their fifth game in a row. They dropped to the ninth position with seven games lost. Flames will have a break next round. BBU will play again on the road against Flames (#6) in Vienna and hope to win that game.
