Regular Season Round 11: Buyukcekmece - Pinar Karsiyaka 91-79

There was a minor upset when 10th ranked Pinar Karsiyaka (4-7) was defeated on the road by twelfth ranked Buyukcekmece (4-6) 91-79. Buyukcekmece players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. It was an exceptional evening for American point guard Kenny Hayes (186-87, college: Miami, OH, agency: BeoBasket) who led the winners and scored 31 points and 9 assists (was perfect 11-for-11 from the free throw line !!!). His fellow American import Matt Tiby (203-92, college: Wisc.-Milwaukee) accounted for 25 points and 8 rebounds (perfect behind the arc making all five shots) for the winning side. Buyukcekmece's coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. The former international Ilkan Karaman (205-90) came up with 22 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and Egyptian forward Assem Marei (206-92, college: Minn.St.-Mankato) added 16 points and 8 rebounds respectively for Pinar Karsiyaka in the defeat. Four Pinar Karsiyaka players scored in double figures. Buyukcekmece moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Darussafaka and Sakarya BSB. Pinar Karsiyaka at the other side dropped to the twelfth position with seven games lost. Buyukcekmece's next round opponent will be bottom-ranked Istanbul BBSK (#15) on the road which should be theoretically an easy game. Pinar Karsiyaka will play against Gaziantep and hope to win that game.
