Regular Season Round 11: Bakken - Vaerlose 113-74

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Risskov. First ranked Bakken faced 3rd placed Vaerlose. Host Bakken (11-1) smashed guests from Vaerlose (2-9) 113-74. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Vaerlose. The game without a history. Bakken led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Vaerlose to just 6 points in first quarter. Bakken made 22-of-29 free shots (75.9 percent) during the game. They also forced 22 Vaerlose turnovers and outrebounded them 54-33 including a 37-26 advantage in defensive rebounds. Bakken looked well-organized offensively handing out 31 assists comparing to just 14 passes made by Vaerlose's players. The best player for the winners was forward Sylvester Berg (201-98) who scored 22 points and 7 rebounds. American guard Tobin Carberry (193-91, college: LIU Post, agency: HMS) chipped in 13 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists. Worth to mention Carberry played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which helped get the job in pro basketball. Five Bakken players scored in double figures. Bakken's coach Steffen Wich felt very confident that he used entire bench and allowed the starting five to get some rest. American guard Austin Pope (198, college: Chaminade) produced 19 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and the other American import forward Richard Granberry (203-93, college: Virginia St.) added 10 points and 11 rebounds respectively for the guests. Defending champion maintains first place with 11-1 record. Newly promoted Vaerlose keeps the third position with nine games lost. Bakken will face league's second-placed BMS Skovlunde on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Vaerlose will play against the league's second-placed Horsens IC and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
