There was no surprise in Sofia where 7th ranked Academic PL (1-7) was crushed by fourth ranked Septemvri 97 (5-3) 78-50. Septemvri 97 dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Academic PL's 30. Septemvri 97 forced 39 Academic PL turnovers. Guard Ivona Ilieva (180-98) orchestrated the victory by scoring 39 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds. Guard Borislava Dencheva (168-2) contributed with 8 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Septemvri 97's coach felt very confident using entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. The former international forward Anna Rimpova (183-82) replied with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 17 rebounds and swingman Petya Argirova (166-0) added 13 points in the effort for Academic PL. Septemvri 97 moved-up to third place. Academic PL lost fifth consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the bottom position with seven games lost. Septemvri 97 will play against Lokomotiv St. Z (#5) in the next round. Academic PL will play against Slavia to get more than just one victory in their record.
