The game between Top Four teams took place in Heidelberg. Third ranked host MLP Academics Heidelberg (9-6) defeated second-best Hamburg (10-4) 85-70. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Hamburg. MLP Academics Heidelberg made 19-of-23 free shots (82.6 percent) during the game. It was a great evening for American swingman Shyron Ely (193-87, college: Evansville, agency: Slash Sports) who led his team to a victory scoring 22 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line). Center Phillipp Heyden (206-88) helped adding 18 points and 8 rebounds (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!). Four MLP Academics Heidelberg players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was power forward Jannik Freese (211-86) with 20 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and point guard Rene Kindzeka (185-95, college: Hamburg BC) scored 14 points. MLP Academics Heidelberg maintains third place with 9-6 record having three points less than leader Chemnitz. Hamburg at the other side keeps the second position with four games lost. MLP Academics Heidelberg are looking forward to face Schalke (#12) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Hamburg will play against Nuernberg (#7) and is hoping to win this game.
