There was a surprise result in Quakenbrueck where twelfth ranked Artland Dragons (7-8) defeated higher ranked Ehingen/Urspringschule (7-8) 81-72 on Monday. They outrebounded Ehingen/Urspringschule 43-31 including a 18-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. Ehingen/Urspringschule was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. Americans were the main players on the court. It was a great evening for forward Demetris Morant (206-92, college: FGCU) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 30 points and 12 rebounds. Guard Chase Griffin (190-83, college: Pepperdine) helped adding 14 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Morant is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. The best for the losing side was forward Tanner Leissner (201-95, college: New Hampshire) with 14 points and 7 rebounds and guard Rayshawn Simmons (192-93, college: Cent.Michigan, agency: Two Points) scored 13 points and 5 assists. Artland Dragons moved-up to eighth place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Ehingen/Urspringschule. Ehingen/Urspringschule lost their third game in a row. Artland Dragons will face again Ehingen/Urspringschule (#11) in Allmendingen in the next round.
