Regular Season Round 12: Khimik - Dnipro 94-92

The most exciting game of round 12 in the Superleague took place in Yuzhny. This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of second-best Dnipro (10-5) to first ranked Khimik (11-4) 94-92 in the game for the first place. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Dnipro. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The hosts trailed by 2 points after three quarters before their 25-21 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Strangely Dnipro outrebounded Khimik 39-26 including 24 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was U.S. Virgin Islands guard Deon Edwin (190-92, college: Kent St., agency: Interperformances) who scored 28 points and 4 assists. American forward Christian Jones (201-93, college: UNLV, agency: BeoBasket) chipped in 18 points and 5 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international center Kyrylo Fesenko (216-86) who recorded 19 points and 8 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and international Olexandr Mishula (192-92) added 19 points and 6 assists respectively. Five Khimik and four Dnipro players scored in double figures. Khimik have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 11-4 record. Dnipro at the other side keeps the second place with five games lost. Khimik are looking forward to face Politekhnik (#7) in Kharkiv in the next round where they are favorite. Dnipro will play at home against Odessa (#6) and is hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
