Regular Season Round 14: Univ.Cluj - Focsani 49-76

No shocking result in a game when fifth ranked Focsani (8-5) crushed bottom-ranked Univ.Cluj (0-15) in Cluj Napoca 76-49 on Tuesday. Focsani dominated on the defensive end, holding Univ.Cluj to just 7 points in second quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Univ.Cluj's 36. American point guard Cameron Cornelius (183-92, college: Missouri So.) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds. The other American import forward Kyle Kilgore (201, college: Dakota St.) contributed with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Four Focsani players scored in double figures. Alexandru Bota replied with 8 points and 10 rebounds and Radu Birlean added 11 points and 7 rebounds (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!) in the effort for Univ.Cluj. Univ.Cluj's coach Florin Covaciu gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Newly promoted Focsani maintains fifth position with 8-5 record. Univ.Cluj at the other side, also newcomer in the league, still closes the standings with 15 games lost. Focsani will face Agronomia Buc. (#8) in Bucuresti in the next round.
