Regular Season Round 11: Tornado KM - V.Knasiaus KM 71-93

Very expected game in Kaunas where 9th ranked Tornado KM (2-9) was crushed by second ranked V.Knasiaus KM (9-2) 93-71 on Tuesday. The game was mostly controlled by V.Knasiaus KM. Tornado KM managed to win second period 20-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Tornado KM 39-27 including 25 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was Oskaras Pleikys (-1) who scored 22 points and 8 rebounds (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field). Forward Gediminas Lesciauskas (195-1) chipped in 19 points and 7 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Four V.Knasiaus KM players scored in double figures. V.Knasiaus KM had such big advantage that coach Justas Brazas felt comfortable to give the chance to play for 11 players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Point guard Gytis Macionis (192-1) produced 36 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds and forward Deividas Pundzius (193-1) added 9 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the hosts. V.Knasiaus KM maintains second place with 9-2 record behind leader Vilniaus Silputa, which they share with Perkunas. Tornado KM lost seventh consecutive game. They keep the ninth position with nine games lost. They share it with Silutes SM and Zalgiris U18. V.Knasiaus KM will meet Panevezio (#5) on the road in the next round. Tornado KM will play against Siauliu (#4) and hope to secure a win.
