Regular Season Round 14: Marmatiei - Focsani 79-76

A very close game took place in between Marmatiei and Focsani. Fourth ranked Marmatiei (9-4) got a very close home victory over 5th ranked Focsani (8-5). Marmatiei managed to escape with a 3-point win 79-76 on Wednesday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Focsani. The hosts trailed by 4 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 6-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 79-76. American players dominated the game. Guard Allan Thomas (193-90, college: Georgetown, KY) notched 32 points to lead the effort and forward Greg Edwards (196-90, college: Globe Tech JC) supported him with 14 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists. Even 20 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists by forward Kyle Kilgore (201, college: Dakota St.) did not help to save the game for Focsani. Point guard Cameron Cornelius (183-92, college: Missouri So.) added 16 points and 8 rebounds for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Marmatiei moved-up to third place. Focsani at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the fifth position with five games lost. Marmatiei will meet Targu Jiu (#4) in the next round. Focsani will play against Agronomia Buc. and hope to secure a win.
