Regular Season Round 13: Istanbul U.G - Urla BLD 56-83

Very expected game when 15th ranked Istanbul U.G (2-11) was crushed at home by third ranked Urla BLD (10-3) 83-56 on Friday. Urla BLD dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Istanbul U.G's 20. They outrebounded Istanbul U.G 40-24 including a 29-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. Urla BLD looked well-organized offensively handing out 31 assists comparing to just 15 passes made by Istanbul U.G's players. Forward Gamze Turkoglu (195-83) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 26 points, 12 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals for the winners and Gulay Gul (-93) chipped in 13 points and 16 rebounds. Four Urla BLD players scored in double figures. At the losing side point guard Derin Erdogan (168-2) responded with 9 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists and point guard Senay Zeybek (160-1) scored 10 points. Urla BLD maintains third place with 10-3 record having just three points less than leader Cankaya, which they share with Elazig. Istanbul U.G lost their sixth game in a row. Newly promoted team dropped to the bottom position with 11 games lost. Urla BLD will face Galatasaray G. (#15) in Istanbul in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Istanbul U.G will play on the road against Elazig and hope to win that game.
