Regular Season Round 10: Ilirija - Helios Suns 76-85

Bottom-ranked Ilirija (0-9) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 85-76 loss to sixth ranked Helios Suns (5-5) in Ljubljana on Friday evening. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Ilirija won third quarter 22-21. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Helios Suns looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Serbian guard Miroslav Pasajlic (191-95) scored 20 points and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and Bosnian-Serbian swingman Nikola Gajic (195-91, college: SF Austin) chipped in 13 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. Four Helios Suns players scored in double figures. At the losing side American swingman LD Williams (193-88, college: Wake Forest) responded with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds and his fellow American import forward Isaiah Manderson (208-94, college: S.Florida) produced a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds. Helios Suns moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Rogaska. Loser Ilirija still closes the standings with nine games lost. Helios Suns will meet league's second-placed Krka in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Ilirija will play against Sencur Gor. (#7) in Kranj and hopes to get finally their first victory.
