Regular Season Round 24: KTU - Taurages 78-80

Fifteenth-ranked KTU (4-18) used its home court advantage to challenge twelfth ranked Taurages (10-13) in Kaunas on Saturday. The visitors from Taurage managed to secure only two-point victory 80-78. However their fans expected easier game. KTU was plagued by 31 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for point guard Aivaras Kvedaravicius (184-88) who led his team to a victory with 21 points and 7 rebounds. Forward Paulius Morkeliunas (201-85, college: LIU Brooklyn, agency: Octagon Europe) contributed with 15 points for the winners. Matas Ragauskas (189-96) replied with 23 points and Julius Liesis (195-99) added 11 points and 4 assists in the effort for KTU. KTU's coach Arturas Sukovas tried various players' combinations and tested in total twelve players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Taurages have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They moved-up to eleventh place. Loser KTU stay at the bottom position with 18 games lost. Taurages will face higher ranked Delikatesas (#5) in Joniskis in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. KTU will play on the road against Telsiai (#4) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
