Regular Season Round 24: Perlas - Jonava 84-81

Very expected game when 13th ranked Jonava (6-16) was edged by seventh ranked Perlas (12-11) in Vilnius 84-81 on Saturday. However just three-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Perlas forced 24 Jonava turnovers. Strangely Jonava outrebounded Perlas 38-26 including a 29-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a good game for guard Karolis Giedraitis (194-98) who led his team to a victory with 27 points. Power forward Einaras Tubutis (207-98) contributed with 19 points and 4 blocks (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winners. Perlas' coach Arvydas Gronskis used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Forward Augustinas Jankaitis (205-94) replied with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 10 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) and international forward Martynas Linkevicius (197-85, agency: Octagon Europe) added 17 points, 10 rebounds and 9 assists (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!) in the effort for Jonava. Four Perlas and five Jonava players scored in double figures. Perlas maintains seventh position with 12-11 record, which they share with Silute. Jonava lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the fourteenth place with 16 games lost. Perlas will face league's second-placed Palanga on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Jonava will play against Gargzdu (#9) and hope to win that game.
