The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Medias as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Medias defeated top-ranked Voluntari at home 83-79. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Voluntari. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Voluntari was ahead by 3 points after three quarters before a 26-19 charge of Medias, which allowed them to win the game. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Serbian Andrija Simovic (203-95) had a double-double by scoring 22 points and 13 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the former international Titus Nicoara (203-88, agency: Interperformances) chipped in 22 points and 10 rebounds during the contest. Serbian center Petar Vukovic (210-97) responded with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 12 rebounds and Serbian guard Svetozar Popovic (195-87, agency: Mansfield and Associates) scored 17 points. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Medias (8-2) have an impressive seven-game winning streak. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Sibiu. Voluntari at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the second place with two games lost. They share the position with Cluj Napoca. Voluntari will play next round against strong Constanta trying to get back on the winning streak. Medias will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game.
