Regular Season Round 15: Lietkabelis - Rytas 73-95

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 3rd placed Lietkabelis (10-5) was smashed by fourth ranked Rytas (10-4) in Panevezys 95-73 on Sunday. The game without a history. Rytas led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 22-of-26 free shots (84.6 percent) during the game. Rytas looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Lietkabelis was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for American DJ Seeley (193-89, college: CS Fullerton) who led his team to a victory with 24 points (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). International Arnas Butkevicius (197-92) contributed with 11 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Four Rytas players scored in double figures. Paulius Valinskas (190-95) answered with 15 points and 5 assists and forward Saulius Kulvietis (205-91) added 14 points in the effort for Lietkabelis. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Rytas moved-up to third place. Lietkabelis at the other side dropped to the fourth position with five games lost. Rytas will face P.Zvaigzdes (#5) in Pasvalys in the next round. Lietkabelis will play on the road against Dzukija in Alytus and hope to win that game.
