Very expected game when 12th ranked Schalke (6-8) was defeated at home by fourth ranked MLP Academics Heidelberg (10-6) 69-54. The winners were led by American guard Jaleen Smith (193-94, college: New Hampshire) who scored that evening 10 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals and center Phillipp Heyden (206-88) supported him with 6 points and 10 rebounds. Even 14 points and 5 rebounds by American guard Courtney Belger (187-89, college: Quincy) did not help to save the game for Schalke. Center Adam Touray (208-94) added 11 points and 5 rebounds for lost side. Schalke's coach Raphael Wilder tested eleven players and allowed the starting five to rest. MLP Academics Heidelberg moved-up to third place. Newly promoted Schalke dropped to the thirteenth position with eight games lost. MLP Academics Heidelberg's next round opponent will be league's leader Chemnitz at home and it will be for sure the game of the week. Schalke will play against Lions (#7) in Karlsruhe and hope to win that game.
