Regular Season Round 15: Zalgiris - Juventus 72-69
Date: December 23, 2018
No shocking result in a game when first ranked Zalgiris (14-1) edged 6th ranked Juventus (6-9) in Kaunas 72-69 on Sunday. However just three-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts trailed by 9 points after first quarter, but they rallied back winning two of next three quarters and won the game by 3 points. Zalgiris made 22-of-26 free shots (84.6 percent) during the game. They also forced 24 Juventus turnovers. Juventus was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for American Aaron White (206-92, college: Iowa) who led his team to a victory with 15 points and 5 rebounds. His fellow American import guard Derrick Walton-Jr (185-95, college: Michigan) contributed with 13 points for the winners. Zalgiris' coach Sarunas Jasikevicius used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. International center Martinas Geben (208-94, college: Notre Dame) answered with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 14 rebounds and swingman Tomas Dimsa (198-94) added 20 points and 7 assists in the effort for Juventus. Zalgiris have an impressive series of nine victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 14-1 record. Juventus at the other side keeps the sixth position with nine games lost. Zalgiris will face Prienu Skycop (#8) in Prienai in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Juventus will play at home against the league's second-placed Neptunas and hope to win that game.
