Regular Season Round 12: Vienna - Oberwart 83-86
Date: December 23, 2018
Not a big story in a game in Vienna where 7th ranked Hallmann (5-7) was edged by fourth ranked Gunners Oberwart (9-4) 86-83 on Sunday. Hallmann trailed by 13 points after 3 quarters before a 29-19 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 83-86 at the end of the game. Worth to mention a great performance of British center Chris Tawiah (207-93, college: Wiley) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 17 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists and forward Renato Poljak (197-97) who added 19 points during the contest. Five Gunners Oberwart players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was the former international Jason Detrick (195-80, college: Oklahoma) with 51 points (!!!) and 9 rebounds (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!) and American power forward David Haughton (198-91, college: Purchase) scored 9 points, 12 rebounds and 4 blocks. Gunners Oberwart have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place. Hallmann at the other side keeps the seventh position with seven games lost. Gunners Oberwart will face Dukes (#5) in Klosterneuburg in the next round. Hallmann will play on the road against Furstenfeld Panthers and hope to win that game.
