Regular Season Round 13: Oberwart - Klosterneuburg 75-61

There was no surprise when 5th ranked Dukes (8-5) were defeated on the road by second ranked Gunners Oberwart (10-4) 75-61 on Wednesday. Dukes were tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Gunners Oberwart dominated down low during the game scoring 42 of its points in the paint compared to Dukes' 18. Gunners Oberwart forced 19 Dukes turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. American guard Hayden Lescault (196-92, college: Point Loma) stepped up and scored 16 points and 9 assists for the winners and British center Chris Tawiah (207-93, college: Wiley) chipped in 16 points and 6 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field). At the losing side Serbian Predrag Miletic (193-84) responded with 17 points and the former international center Christoph Greimeister (208-90) scored 7 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Dukes' coach rotated ten players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Gunners Oberwart have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain second place with 10-4 record having just one point less than leader Gmunden. Dukes at the other side keep the fifth position with five games lost. Gunners Oberwart will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Dukes will play against Timberwolves (#6) in Vienna and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
