Regular Season Round 11: Fenerbahce - Izmit 94-66

Rather expected game when 6th ranked Izmit (6-5) was smashed by third ranked Fenerbahce (9-2) in Istanbul 94-66 on Wednesday. Fenerbahce outrebounded Izmit 45-21 including a 30-13 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists. American guard Kelsey Plum (173-94, college: Washington) orchestrated the victory by scoring 18 points and 6 assists. International center Esra Ural-Topuz (198-91, agency: FlyBasketball) contributed with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners. Fenerbahce had such big advantage that coach Valerie Garnier felt comfortable to give the chance to play for 11 players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. American Bernice Mosby (186-84, college: Baylor) answered with 14 points and 6 rebounds and the other American import point guard Tan White (170-82, college: Mississippi St., agency: ProDep Management) added 16 points and 5 assists in the effort for Izmit. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for Fenerbahce. Defending champion maintains third place with 9-2 record having just eight point less than leader Adana Basket. Newly promoted Izmit dropped to the fifth position with five games lost. Fenerbahce will face Kayseri (#11) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Izmit will play against the league's leader Cukurova (#1) and hope to win that game.
