There was a surprise result when tenth ranked Mersin BSB (5-6) beat higher ranked Galatasaray (6-5) in Istanbul 78-71 on Wednesday. Mersin BSB made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Mersin BSB made 9 blocks. Lithuanian power forward Gintare Petronyte (196-89) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 18 rebounds and 5 assists.
