Very expected game when 7th ranked Giessen 46ers (6-6) were defeated on the road by third ranked ALBA Berlin (9-2) 108-96. ALBA Berlin dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Giessen 46ers' 38 and made 16-of-16 charity shots (100 percent !!!) during the game. It was a great shooting night for ALBA Berlin especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 55.6 percentage. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists. It was a good game for American forward Luke Sikma (202-89, college: Portland) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 12 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists. Guyanese-Serbian guard Stefan Peno (194-97) contributed with 16 points and 8 assists for the winners. ALBA Berlin's coach Garcia Aito Reneses used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. American point guard David Bell (185-81, college: Montana) replied with 18 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and his fellow American import forward Larry Gordon (196-87, college: Cal Poly Pomona) added 17 points in the effort for Giessen 46ers. Five Giessen 46ers players scored in double figures. ALBA Berlin have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Brose Bask. and EWE Baskets. Giessen 46ers lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the eighth position with six games lost. ALBA Berlin's next round opponent will be Eisbaeren Bremerhaven (#16) on the road which should be an easy win for them. Giessen 46ers will play against EnBW Ludwigsburg (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
