Regular Season Round 14: Urla BLD - Galatasaray G. 82-55

There was no surprise in Izmir where 15th ranked Galatasaray G. (2-12) was crushed by third ranked Urla BLD (11-3) 82-55 on Saturday. Urla BLD dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Galatasaray G.'s 26. They outrebounded Galatasaray G. 40-26 including 28 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was forward Gamze Turkoglu (195-83) who scored 21 points and 8 rebounds. Gizem Uca (170-94, agency: 1andBox Sports Agency) chipped in 12 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Five Urla BLD players scored in double figures. Sude Yilmaz (178-2, agency: FlyBasketball) produced a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds and Melisa Eroglu (-2) added 11 points respectively for the guests. Galatasaray G.'s coach gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Urla BLD maintains third position with 11-3 record having just two points less than leader Cankaya, which they share with Elazig. Galatasaray G. lost eleventh consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the fifteenth place with 12 games lost. Urla BLD will face league's leader Cankaya in Ankara in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Galatasaray G. will play at home against Elazig (#4) and hope to win that game.
