Regular Season Round 14: Giessen 46ers - Telekom Bsk 92-99

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 11th ranked Giessen 46ers (7-8) lost at home to twelfth ranked Telekom Baskets (6-8) 99-92 on Wednesday. Telekom Baskets looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Forward Martin Breunig (203-92, college: Montana) notched a double-double by scoring 18 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the effort and naturalized American guard TJ DiLeo (190-90, college: Temple) supported him with 17 points and 6 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Even 23 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists by American forward Larry Gordon (196-87, college: Cal Poly Pomona) did not help to save the game for Giessen 46ers. His fellow American import point guard David Bell (185-81, college: Montana) added 29 points for the hosts. Four Telekom Baskets and five Giessen 46ers players scored in double figures. Telekom Baskets moved-up to eleventh place. Giessen 46ers lost sixth consecutive game. They dropped to the ninth position with eight games lost. Telekom Baskets will meet at home higher ranked EnBW Ludwigsburg (#8) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Giessen 46ers will play against Science City Jena and hope to secure a win.
