Regular Season Round 17: Siauliai - Dzukija 87-76

There was a small surprise when tenth ranked Siauliai (3-14) defeated at home 7th ranked Dzukija (6-11) 87-76 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Siauliai. Dzukija was better in second period 21-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The best player for the winners was Ignas Vaitkus (196-93, agency: Octagon Europe) who scored 20 points, 9 rebounds and 9 assists. Guard Kristupas Zemaitis (192-96) chipped in 12 points and 7 assists. Four Siauliai players scored in double figures. Siauliai's coach Antanas Sireika used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guard Dominykas Domarkas (190-92) produced 19 points and 8 assists (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) and Mindaugas Susinskas (204-95) added 18 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the guests. Siauliai moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Nevezis. Dzukija at the other side keeps the seventh position with 11 games lost. Siauliai will face higher ranked Rytas (#3) in Vilnius in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
