Regular Season Round 25: Ereliai Mazeikiai - Ezerunas 90-63

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 12th ranked Ezerunas (8-16) was crushed on the road by thirteenth ranked Ereliai Mazeikiai (8-15) 90-63 on Friday. Ereliai Mazeikiai outrebounded Ezerunas 41-25 including a 35-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. Center Tomas Zdanavicius (203-96) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 30 points and 12 rebounds for the winners and American guard Lavell Boyd (183-94, college: UMKC) chipped in 17 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. At the losing side swingman Kostas Jonuska (195-92) responded with 13 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and center Ignas Lukosius (202-93) scored 12 points and 8 rebounds. Four Ezerunas players scored in double figures. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Ereliai Mazeikiai moved-up to twelfth place. Loser Ezerunas dropped to the thirteenth position with 16 games lost. Ereliai Mazeikiai will face higher ranked Neptunas-Akv. (#5) in Klaipeda in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Ezerunas will play at home against Taurages (#10) and hope to win that game.
