Date: January 5, 2019
We should mention about the upset which took place in Cuxhaven, where 4th placed Langenhagen (9-6) lost to twelfth ranked Cuxhaven (6-8) in a road game 64-76 on Saturday. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Langenhagen. Cuxhaven looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was American guard Jordan Rezendes (188-92, college: Mass.-Dartmouth) who scored 20 points and 7 rebounds. Power forward Kwame Duku (197-88) chipped in 17 points (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field). Four Cuxhaven players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Ole Korfhage (193-91) who recorded 15 points and point guard Arthur Zaletskiy (183-94) added 14 points respectively. Langenhagen's coach Benjamin Travnizek rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Cuxhaven moved-up to ninth place in North, which they share with Vechta II. Newly promoted Langenhagen keeps the fourth position with six games lost. Cuxhaven will face ALBA-2 (#15) in Berlin in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Langenhagen will play at home against ETV (#14) and hope to win that game.
