Regular Season Round 13: Spartak Pleven - Cherno More 97-80

Bottom-ranked Cherno More (0-12) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 97-80 loss to fifth ranked Spartak Pleven (6-5) in Pleven on Saturday evening. They shot the lights out from three sinking 20 long-distance shots on high 54.1 percentage. Spartak Pleven looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Cherno More's players. Point guard Nikolay Marinov (190-94) stepped up and scored 35 points (!!!) and 5 assists for the winners and point guard Tsvetoslav Ostrev (175-86) chipped in 19 points and 12 assists. At the losing side forward Georgi Boyanov (201-93, college: S.Alabama) responded with 23 points and 7 rebounds and Martin Jordanov produced a double-double by scoring 12 points and 12 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Spartak Pleven. They maintain fifth place with 6-5 record. Cherno More lost their tenth game in a row. They still close the standings with 12 games lost. Spartak Pleven will meet higher ranked Balkan (#4) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Cherno More will play against Yambol (#7) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
