Regular Season Round 17: Juventus - Rytas 68-79

Rather predictable result in Utena where third ranked Rytas (13-4) beat 6th ranked Juventus (7-10) 79-68 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Rytas. Juventus was better in second period 21-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was American swingman Dominique Sutton (198-86, college: N.C.Central) who scored 22 points and 6 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). International Arnas Butkevicius (197-92) chipped in 13 points and 8 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Rytas' coach Dainius Adomaitis used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Swingman Tomas Dimsa (198-94) produced 22 points and Russian Aleksandr Zakharov (203-93) added 13 points and 8 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Rytas have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain third place with 13-4 record having just two points less than leader Zalgiris. Juventus at the other side keeps the sixth position with ten games lost. Rytas will face bottom-ranked Siauliai (#10) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Juventus will play against Nevezis (#9) in Kedainiai and hope to win that game.
