Regular Season Round 15: Horsens IC - Svendborg 102-80

An interesting game for Horsens IC (12-3) which hosted in Horsens 4th placed Svendborg (9-5). Second ranked Horsens IC had an easy win 102-80. It looked good early as Svendborg took a 1-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Horsens IC had a 31-16 second period charge getting the lead and Svendborg was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 80-102. Horsens IC dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Svendborg's 24. Horsens IC forced 21 Svendborg turnovers and had a 15-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. It was a great evening for Bosnian forward Vedran Borovcanin (199-85) who led his team to a victory scoring 17 points and 6 rebounds. Senegalese power forward Cheikh Sane (207-92, college: Marshall) helped adding 8 points and 14 rebounds. The best for the losing side was American point guard Derrick Wilson (185-92, college: Marquette) with 34 points (!!!), 7 assists and 4 steals (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) and the other American import forward Zach Charles (201-95, college: E.Kentucky) scored 15 points and 7 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Horsens IC maintains second place with 12-3 record behind leader EBAA. Svendborg at the other side keeps the fourth position with five games lost. Horsens IC will play against Vaerlose (#3) on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Svendborg will play against Stevnsgade and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
