The game in Cherkasy was also quite interesting. Third ranked Zaporizhye (10-6) played at the court of 8th ranked Cherkasy (2-9). Zaporizhye managed to secure a 7-point victory 105-98 on Thursday. Cherkasy was trailing by 1 point at halftime but managed to get 2-point lead after three quarters before a 38-29 charge of Zaporizhye, which allowed them to win the game. They made 38-of-49 free shots (77.6 percent) during the game. American players dominated the game. Guard Malique Trent (189-94, college: Hampton) nailed 39 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds (on 13-of-17 shooting from the field) for the winning side and guard Mike Holton Jr. (185-90, college: St.Michael's) accounted for 16 points and 6 rebounds. Forward Chris Cokley (203-96, college: UAB, agency: Interperformances) came up with a double-double by scoring 25 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists and guard Brandon Young (193-91, college: De Paul) added 18 points and 12 assists respectively for Cherkasy in the defeat. Five Zaporizhye and four Cherkasy players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Zaporizhye. They maintain third place with 10-6 record having just two points less than leader Khimik. Cherkasy lost their third game in a row. Defending champion stay at the bottom position with nine games lost. Zaporizhye will meet Kyiv Basket (#5) on the road in the next round. Cherkasy will play against Mykolaiv and hope to secure a win.
