No shocking result in a game when sixth ranked Academik Plovdiv (6-6) beat at home 8th ranked Academic Sofia (3-10) 85-72 on Friday. Academik Plovdiv made 16-of-19 free shots (84.2 percent) during the game. Academik Plovdiv outrebounded Academic Sofia 49-32 including 34 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Nigerian-Italian center Peter Olisemeka (204-91) notched a double-double by scoring 18 points and 17 rebounds to lead the effort and American guard Daishon Knight (185-91, college: Illinois St., agency: Mansfield and Associates) supported him with 19 points and 7 rebounds. Five Academik Plovdiv players scored in double figures. Even 28 points by Nikolay Grozev (200-94) did not help to save the game for Academic Sofia. Forward Nikolay Nikolov (196-94) added 12 points for the guests. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Academik Plovdiv have an impressive five-game winning streak. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Spartak Pleven. Academic Sofia lost ninth consecutive game. They keep the eighth position with ten games lost. Academik Plovdiv will meet league's leader Levski Lukoil in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Academic Sofia will play against Rilski (#3) and hope to secure a win.
