The game between closely ranked teams ended with fifth ranked Lions' (9-5) home victory over 6th ranked Worthersee Piraten (7-7) in Dornbirn 86-70 on Saturday. It was a very close game until the last quarter, when Lions's pressure prevailed and they won that period 18-9 extending their advantage to 16 points. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Spanish forward Javier Medori (202-93) notched a double-double by scoring 22 points and 17 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) to lead the effort and forward Luka Kevric (188-96) supported him with 16 points. Four Lions players scored in double figures. Lions' coach Borja San Miguel allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even 22 points and 5 assists by Slovenian guard Elvis Keric (193-98) did not help to save the game for Worthersee Piraten. Forward Andreas Kuttnig (190-82) added 12 points and 7 rebounds for the guests. Lions moved-up to fourth place, which they share with UBC. Loser Worthersee Piraten keeps the sixth position with seven games lost. They share it with Flames and Mustangs. Lions will meet at home KOS (#10) in the next round where they are favorite. Worthersee Piraten will play against Flames (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
